The City of Glendale is looking for retailers to complement its Arts & Entertainment District vision. Retailers are invited to apply to participate in the Artsakh Creative Pilot Program, consisting of a short-term rental of City-owned commercial tenant space on Artsakh Ave. 

 

Applicants have the option to propose ongoing events and programming in the Artsakh Paseo, the pedestrian friendly area on North Artsakh Avenue between Wilson and Broadway.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Artisanal Uses:

  • Specialty Food or Retail: i.e., Cheese Shops, Wine, Olive Oil, Soap, Jewelry, Clothing

  • Gift or Antique Shops

Arts Uses:

  • Education-Based: Dance,  Studios, Music, and Acting  Studios, Acting, Bookstores

  • Performance  Based: Comedy Club, Nightclub, Spoken Word, Gallery

  • Creation-Based: Maker Space, Photo Studio

  • Alcoholic Beverage Sale: Allowed only if applicant obtains an ABC license and has the necessary liability insurance.   

HOW TO APPLY

The online application will open on December 21, 2020 and will remain open throughout the life of the pilot program. 

To be considered for the first round of participants, applications must be received by January 21, 2021.

ABOUT

Artsakh Creative is a pop-up accelerator program for the short-term use of City-owned commercial space in the Artsakh Paseo. We are looking for unique brands, businesses, creatives, and entrepreneurs that can share their talents with artisanal and arts-related uses and products. Businesses selected to participate in the program are required to meet all the City of Glendale insurance requirements click here for details. 

 

Applicants were encouraged to propose ongoing events and programming in the Artsakh Paseo, the pedestrian friendly area on North Artsakh Avenue between Wilson and Broadway.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:

An established business concept, with sufficient funding to move into a City-owned unit and open up in a 4-6 week timeframe.

 

Artisanal Uses:

  • Specialty Food or Retail Shops: Cheese, Wine, Olive Oil, Soap, Jewelry, Clothing

  • Gift or Antique Shops

Arts Uses:

  • Education-Based: Dance, Music, and Acting  Studios, Bookstores

  • Performance-Based: Comedy Club, Spoken Word/Music Performance Venue

  • Arts-Based: Art/Photo Gallery, Maker Space, Photo Studio

Other Uses:

  • Nightlife-Based: Beer Tasting Room, Wine Bar (*The sale of alcoholic beverages is allowed only if the participant obtains the necessary ABC license and the appropriate liability insurance)

  • Exercise-Based: Yoga, Martial Arts, Fitness Studio

Please note that the units in the program have been used primarily for retail purposes and do not have kitchen facilities.

UNITS

Businesses selected to participate in the program will be allowed to operate rent-free for up to six months in one of the following City owned units:

  • 117 N. Artsakh Ave.

  • 131 N. Artsakh Ave.

Artsakh Creative Round 5 Application Period Closed!

The application period for the Artsakh Creative program closed on Friday, August 16, 2024 at 11:59 PM. Staff will review all submissions and notify those moving forward in the interview process no later than September 6, 2024. If you were not selected to advance for this round, we encourage you to sign up to our Economic Development newsletter to be notified about future Artsakh Creative opportunities.
